Meet Daily Kos: Reliable Democrat

Slate magazine has unveiled a new section, called “Today’s blogs.” If the idea is to provide a smattering of perspectives from the political blogosphere, the new feature is an arrant failure, insofar as it gives disproportionate space to left-liberal blogs. If, on the other hand, the objective is to underscore positions amenable to Slate’s saliently leftwing editorial line—a perfectly tenable position, by the way—it succeeds admirably. Still, it took some effort to resist wincing at Slate’s description of the proprietor of the far-leftist blog, the Daily Kos, as the “reliably Democratic Markos Moulitas.” Moulitas, of course, is the twisted individual who had this to say, upon the brutal murder of four American civilians last April:

“… I feel nothing over the death of merceneries [sic]. They aren’t in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them.”

So this is what it takes to be called “reliably Democratic"? Scary thought, that.

(Thanks to Galley Slaves for bringing this to my attention)
